PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Curriculum Intent

The Health Faculty seeks to develop healthy, confident and collaborative individuals who strive to achieve excellence through the realisation of their sporting talents.

In KS3, Physical Education is designed to enhance students’ sporting skills and tactical awareness and help them to develop transferrable skills that are relevant to everyday life such as teamwork, resilience and respect.

In KS4, there is a focus on promoting well-being and healthy active lifestyles. If students enjoy being physically active this will inspire students to carry this on when they leave school and encourage life-long participation.

GCSE PE

Studying Physical Education at key stage 4 gives students the opportunity to explore difference aspects of the sporting industry. The course is aimed at those who have an interest in playing sport. It features a combination of theory and practical lessons, with theory lessons focusing on the human body and movement in sport for paper 1 and paper 2 focuses on socio-cultural influences and well-being in sport.
