Personalised Learning Checklists (PLCs)

Since the students have returned to school from their summer break, we have implemented a curriculum with the aim of addressing any gaps in their knowledge caused by the disruption to their learning as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Rather than a traditional report, we will share with parents/carers their child’s Personalised Learning Checklists (PLCs). PLCs are a way of keeping a record of student’s knowledge and understanding in different subjects. They enable the teachers, students and parents to track student progress and identify areas of strength and areas for improvement. The PLCs tie in directly to the different subject requirements, including spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) and therefore allow pupils to understand exactly which elements of each subject they can improve on in order to improve further and fulfil their potential. They also indicate to staff any intervention that may be required to support their child and allow tracking of progress.

The table below shows how teachers RAG rate their students on each topic of their PLC.

Green
(G)
Your child has a secure knowledge of this topic and would be able to confidently demonstrate this in an assessment.
Amber (A) Your child has some understanding of this topic but would need to spend some time on it before sitting an assessment.
Red
(R)
Your child has little understanding of this topic and would need to relearn this topic in order to progress further.
